Hand Crafted International (HCI) provides amazing hand crafted products sourced from highly skilled artisans from all around the globe.
HCI is based on the principals of honesty, integrity, and doing the right thing – simply because it’s just the right thing to do.
Behind every great work of art is an even better story:
When you buy hand crafted products from HCI you’re not just buying an amazing work of handmade art, you’re buying a story. Each story may be different but they all come down to this. Each item you buy creates a job and income for an artisan who may not have any other opportunity to support themselves and their family.
Artisan Stories:
Each artisan has a story. A story of being born in a country with very few opportunities, extreme poverty and at times a feeling of hopelessness. A story of illness without healthcare, of natural disasters without assistance and of hunger without food. Things many of us take for granted such as shoes, clothes and shelter are luxuries to many of the artisans and their families.
With all this being said let it be known. These artisans are true craftsmen. They have honed their skills using simple hand tools and create amazing works of hand crafted products. This is their trade and their way of providing for their families. Each item you purchase directly provides income for these artisans.
Materials:
Without having the capital and the means to purchase new tools and materials for their crafts, the artisans are extremely resourceful. They use locally sourced raw materials and in some cases fabricate their own tools.
How artisans are protected:
The supplier HCI sources these products from is a member of The Fair Trade Federation and the World Fair Trade Organization.
Their mission is to offer income-generating opportunities to craftspeople in developing countries by following fair trade practices including:
- Paying in advance at least the market price for items
- Ensuring that craftspeople receive payment
- Ensuring that the craftspeople work in fair working conditions.
As a result, you can rest assured each artisan is properly and fairly treated.
